Rara Lake Tour; The Hidden Treasure of Nepal Introduction Rara is the biggest and most astonishing lake of Nepal and is also Himalayan treasure of Nepal. Rara is the biggest lake of Nepal. It includes towering hills and is amazingly spectacular. The area covered by the lake is about 10.4 sq km (4 sq miles). Moreover, Rara Lake Tour provides you with the once in a lifetime experience. It is at an altitude of 3049 m. Regarding its etymology, the Bhote people from Karandara used to come here with their yaks and sheep from the south, the Hindus came here and sacrificed he-goats to worship. Moreover, the Bhotes then started to call this lake ‘Ra’-‘Rat because ‘Ra’ means ‘he-goat’ and ‘Ra’ means ‘to roast’. The length of Rara is five km and the breadth is 2 km.
