At 6,189 meters (20,305 feet) above sea level, Island Peak is not among the tallest peaks in the Himalayas, but its distinct pyramid-shaped summit and demanding terrain make it a formidable ascent. The peak was first ascended in 1953 by a British expedition team led by Eric Shipton, and since then, it has attracted climbers from around the world eager to experience the thrill of conquering its summit.
